Hello everyone! With this post I would like you to take a look at the Sierras Subbéticas Natural Park, which I consider so attractive and unique. It is a Natural Park that is located in the south of Córdoba and in which the following towns are found: Almedinilla, Benamejí, Cabra, Carcabuey, Doña Mencía, Encinas Reales, Fuente Tójar, Iznájar, Lucena, Luque, Palenciana, Priego de Córdoba, Rute and Zuheros.

Subbetic Mountain Ranges: orography

The Sierras Subbéticas Natural Park is very characteristic for its peculiar orography, steep slopes and elevations that rise over beautiful and narrow valleys. Also high cliffs such as the peak of El Picacho, 1,217 meters high and from which Sierra Nevada can be seen on clear days. In addition to the Tiñosa peak, the highest in the province of Córdoba, at 1,570 meters.

Activities

There are several leisure activities that can be carried out, such as hiking, climbing and abseiling, or mountain biking. Although the most popular is caving due to the nature of the Park, in which there are various cavities that go into the very bowels of the Sierra. The most famous is the Cueva de los Murcielagos, where you can see beautiful karst formations and archaeological remains from the Neolithic Age.

Olive oil from the Sierras Subbéticas Natural Park

These geological and climatic characteristics of the Park favor the production of olive oil of excellent quality. In fact, its olive oils are recognized not only nationally, but also internationally for the numerous awards and recognitions won in the competitions in which they have been presented. For this reason it is Premium olive oil, of a much higher category.

I think the best thing is that instead of reading a lot of data on geographic and demographic characteristics, etc … of this region, you see a few photos that I took in a raid I did last September through the Natural Park from Priego de Córdoba to Rute and where I was able to verify once again the meaning of the phrase mountain olive grove. I hope you like them.
