Olive oil tasting kit to enjoy at home
This olive oil tasting kit from Cortijo de Suerte Alta brings together three organic extra virgin olive oils from the estate in 100 ml bottles and three official tasting glasses, so you can hold a blind tasting at home just like a professional taster. The bottles carry only a number, and you won’t know which oil is in each glass until the end of the tasting. It is a limited edition, presented in a rigid box with a magnetic closure that opens like a book.
What’s included
- 3 organic extra virgin olive oils in 100 ml bottles.
- 3 official olive oil tasting glasses in cobalt blue glass.
- A letter signed by the master miller and a card with the five tasting steps.
- A 32-page tasting booklet in Spanish and English.
- QR codes with the tasting guide, the production process, a tasting with the producing family and their documentary.
- Limited-edition rigid box with magnetic closure.
The three olive oils
- Coupage Natural: Picudo, Picual and Hojiblanca, PDO Baena.
- Marqués de Prado Selección Familiar: Arbequina and Picual, family production.
- Picual en Envero: early-harvest Picual, PDO Baena.
How to do the tasting at home
The tasting is blind: each bottle carries only a number from 1 to 3 on the capsule. Scan the tasting guide QR code and follow these steps:
- Prepare: place the three glasses on the table, with the oil at room temperature.
- Smell: warm the glass between your hands, cover it with your palm and let the oil release its aromas.
- Taste: take a short sip, spread it around your mouth and draw in a little air to pick up the fruitiness, bitterness and pungency.
- Compare: repeat with glasses 2 and 3 and note the differences in the tasting booklet.
- Discover: at the end, the guide reveals which oil was in each glass, which plot it comes from and when it was harvested.
Tasting profile
Three olive oils with very different styles: Marqués de Prado, mild and sweet, with notes of green banana and apple; Coupage Natural, balanced, with freshly cut grass, almond and tomato leaf; and Picual en Envero, the most intense, with pronounced bitterness and pungency. You’ll find all the details in the Tasting notes tab.
Cortijo de Suerte Alta: organic EVOO from Baena
Cortijo de Suerte Alta produces its oil in Albendín (Baena, Córdoba), at the heart of the Baena Protected Designation of Origin. The Heredia family farms organically, harvests early and cold-extracts the oil at its own mill. Its oils hold EU organic, USDA Organic and JAS certification and have won more than 200 international awards, including NYIOOC, Great Taste and Biofach.
A different gift for olive oil lovers
The olive oil tasting kit is an unusual gift for Christmas, a birthday or for clients and teams: an experience to share with your partner or friends, and a box that looks great afterwards in the kitchen or on a shelf. If you prefer to give larger bottles, discover the Cortijo de Suerte Alta wooden gift box from the same estate.
